Christine M. Plasencia took her Bachelors of Applied Arts from Central Michigan University in Violin Performance. She continued her studies in music education and violin performance under Michael Barta at Southern Illinois University. During this time she was an in-demand performer, playing with the Springfield Symphony, Saginaw Symphony, and Memphis Symphony, amongst others. Having taught privately for over twenty years, she uses various methods, including Suzuki, Mark O’Connor and traditional methods, to meet the needs of each particular student. She currently teaches violin, viola, cello, and piano out of studios in Thousand Oaks and Oxnard. 

Mrs. Plasencia currently teaches violin and music to incarcerated youth at Providence School in Oxnard; Mrs. Plasencia is the Orchestra Director at St. John’s Lutheran Church School, in Oxnard. Mrs. Plasencia continues to perform classically, playing with the Windsong Quartet. She is the band leader of Segue, a jazz quintet which features Christine on jazz violin.

A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, Vera has been teaching and performing music for over 25 years. She studied with a wide range of classical artists and teachers, as well as, performed in a wide range of musical genres, including jazz and fiddling. In addition to currently playing with symphonic orchestras and chamber groups, her experience includes working with such diverse artists ranging from international artists Andrea Bocelli to pianist Lang Lang to Sting.

Vera is certified to teach the innovative O’Connor Violin Method created by violinist Mark O’Connor and regularly attends music workshops and symposiums. In addition to private music lessons, Vera conducts several weekly chamber music workshops for both the beginning and intermediate player.

Vera also teaches beginning piano.
